Following on from the Rola post, I thought I'd split the posts, as it was getting a tad long. Long story short, Plessey bought Rola in the mid-sixties and the line evolved into the seventies. For a while they carried Rola and Plessey names.
PLESSEY SPEAKERS
The Plessey C12P is the go to for guitar speakers, and you can find Rola Plessey branded 12PEG, which are also an excellent choice. The C12PX has a 'whizzer' cone to extend high frequencies, which can be surgically removed if you have a steady hand and something scalpel like.
12UEG are arguably the best speakers ever made in Australia. I've got a pair and they are easily on par with the Celestion Silver dogs in my 65AC30. The C12P are on the Greenback side of things and the most common at least here in Victoria
ReplyDeleteThe C12P and C12PX are pretty common up here too. I've not seen a 12UEG for a while, I'll be sure to grab one or two the next chance I have.
