Resistor Colour Code Lookup
Select the colour bands of a 4-band or 5-band resistor to calculate its nominal resistance, tolerance and expected resistance range.

How the colour code works
Four bands use two significant digits, a multiplier and a tolerance. Five bands use three significant digits, a multiplier and a tolerance.
Digit colours: Black 0, Brown 1, Red 2, Orange 3, Yellow 4, Green 5, Blue 6, Violet 7, Grey 8, White 9.
Multiplier examples: Gold 0.1, Silver 0.01, Black 1, Brown 10, Red 100, Orange 1,000, Yellow 10,000.
Tolerance examples: Brown 1%, Red 2%, Gold 5%, Silver 10%. Other standard precision tolerance colours are also supported.
The tolerance band is normally separated from the other bands. Read from the opposite end. This calculator covers 4- and 5-band resistors, not 6-band temperature-coefficient markings.
