I guess the first question might be, why bother? That's big for a buffer and there are other smaller layouts - true. It's only five columns longer than the one on Guitar FX layouts, so it's not huge by comparison. It happened to suit something I was making, so why not?
The classic Pete Cornish buffer - some deride it, others love it. Which pretty much describes every pedal Pete Cornish ever made.
Great to use for buffered switching, AKA not true bypass. Which is heresy for some but makes perfect sense to others.
