DYLAN159: Bazz Face

There's a massive thread of modded circuits at Free Stomp Boxes by Dylan159 - this one is a Bazz Fuss / Fuzz Face hybrid, suitably called the Bazz Face.

There's plenty more in the thread, including schematics and sound demos.

caution - start with low levels.

440hz sine wave, probe on the output.  This is with germanium transistors, which looks very much like the silicon ones I tested first.   I changed to a larger fuzz pot for a bit more range.

did u breadboard it?
this is a fairly simple circuit - cant get any sound out of it

Hi Eike - no i have not breadboarded this one yet. I'll have to try it later ;-)

thx in advance Andy

It's on the breadboard. It really pumps out some level - unless there's an issue with the diode, in which case there will be none. Maybe check the diode.

thx for testing :-)

a row on my breadboard died - circuit is working as intended and sounds great

That would have been very frustrating.

Can it clean up with your volume knob? Been searching for a simple high gain Velcro fuzz that I can get crystal clear clean tones with too

I can’t recall if it cleaned up. It has been a few years.

If you want Velcro fuzz with cleanup , try a MK1.5. May not be easy as it can be fussy about transistors.

Cool thanks a lot :)
