I saw this pop-up in a GroupDIY audio forum and thought it looked interesting. It's a FET based limiter from Roger Mayer that he designed way back in the day, and is still in production in various forms at the moment.
There's also a version posted where someone redesigned it using TL074 quad opamps, which much be a more practical endeavour considering the size the vero board will need to be to fit this on it.
Part of the circuit is based on a Helios console preamp, so I might also play with that separately. Like some previous experiments, it has potential for overdrive / studio console fuzz.
I'll test a few things before posting a vero layout - if it works that is...
Any updates?
ReplyDeleteNo updates. This is something that would be better on a PCB.
