Just realised that I never posted a regular vero layout for one of my favourite guitar effects - the Matsumin Valve Caster.
It doesn't require power filtering, so you could easily drop the 100ohm resistor and 100u cap. The Valve Caster was one of my first builds, and it doesn't have any power filtering and is super quiet.

Hello. A 12AX7 is the wrong valve. You need a 12AU7 for it to work.

Nope - a 12AX7 will not work. Has to be a 12AU7, as it can run on the low voltage.
out of curiosity I was wondering if the heaters are getting enough voltage in this circuit to get the valve glowing? I'd rather not build one with a fake led lighting up the underside like I've seen on some valvecasters... I saw an article that states that the heaters have multiple ways to hook up? thanks for all the layouts :)
From memory it isn’t very bright.
Preamp valves don’t usually glow like power valves. That comes down to their construction and lower heater power. It’s not just the voltage that matters, but the heater current as well, because that is what actually heats the valve.
If you run the pedal at 12V DC, the heater is getting almost exactly what a 12AU7 is designed for on its 12.6V heater connection, where it normally draws about 0.15A. At 9V it is underheated, so heater current will be lower and it will usually glow less, but it is not necessarily the end of the world.
