AMPS / BLOG UPDATES

So, after convincing myself that I should steer clear of amps — because, let’s face it, they’re expensive and can be a bit of a dangerous rabbit hole — what am I doing now?  Yep, I’m diving into amps.  And I’ll admit, the Truth About Vintage Amps podcast is partially to blame for this new obsession.  I'm certainly enjoying learning something new, and pedal adjacent.

That said, pedal content will still be a part of the blog, but it’ll probably come at a slower pace. I’ve also hit a bit of a wall when it comes to pedals — especially in terms of what I enjoy building and playing. I’ve already laid out most of the circuits I’ve wanted to tackle, and this blog was never about having everything. For example, you won’t find a Tube Screamer layout here, because that’s just not where my focus is.

Here’s some proof of my recent pedal-building efforts — an OC81-based MKII on the bench.  It sounds great, but of course when I fired it up, I discovered the footswitch was a dud.  bah...

So, if you start seeing a few random valve datasheets or some odd posts about output transformers popping up here, don’t be alarmed — it’s just me taking notes for something I’m working on, or gathering info for a project down the road.
