The Astrotone Fuzz is on my build / breadboard list at the moment, as I have a couple of old Fairchild transistors that should work nicely in this (looks quick and easy too).

The Analogman mods were taken from Freestompboxes, so I can't be 100% sure that this is exactly what Analogman does, but by all accounts it should have the same result.

This is known as somewhere between a fuzz and a distortion, and the original is reputed to be very hit and miss depending on set-ups.
