EARTHQUAKER DEVICES: Tentacle, with buffer and blend

This is the octave portion of the Sunn Life pedal by Earthquaker Devices, taken from the Pedal PCB schematic.

It's an EQD Tentacle (Dan Armstrong Green Ringer), with an input buffer and blend control.   I made this as an add-on for other builds - or if you want to build a Life pedal, add this in front of a modded Rat and add a MOSFET boost after it.

And here’s a demo of this layout that I found on YouTube - thanks Adam

What equivalent of Jfet PF1502 can be used?

Hello perfector - as long as the pin out matches, it’s not going to make much difference what you use, if any at all, as it’s just a buffer.

This thing sounds evil paired with a Tonebender. Thanks for the layout. I built a Percolator using some of your suggested values but decided I liked the stock values best. Love the diode lift option and the silicon setting sounds great too. Thanks for the inspiration.

Hi Tom,

I’ve not tried it with a tone bender - what version did you pair it with?

Percolators can be fun to play with. I always think experimenting great - whatever works for your rig is always best.

I tested it with a Scarab but I intend to house it with a D*A*M R&G which is basically a Black on Black.

Nice. I'll have to give that a try.
