This is a modded Benson Preamp by Dylan159 on Freestompboxes. Dylan has taken the original and simplified it but has retained the overall character. Quite a detailed explanation via the link above, including a schematic, LTSPICE model traces, audio and his vero layout. What a solid effort.
For me, this is useful, as it has a standard pot value for the bass control, rather than a hard to find B2M pot.
Hi, I'm Dylan, maker of this iteration of the endless jfet distortions :) I just wanted to thank you for your interest and for this post. Very nice blog you have here, I found it fortuitously, hope it gets recognition. No clue why I forgot to add my own vero layout to the fsb thread but that is done too.
ReplyDeleteThanks for dropping by Dylan - excellent work on the redesign and that’s quite the post on FSB. Very detailed explanation, which is great to see.
ReplyDeleteThe blog is mainly for my own amusement. Hopefully others might find some value in it too.
Andy
Thanks. You might enjoy similar posts I've made then.
ReplyDeletePersonal or not, you've done a lot already. Be what tagboard was!
I saw the simple Klon that you did, I might get around to that one day.
DeleteI think dirtbox layouts is the new tagboard. Anders is putting out a lot of good layouts on a regular basis.
Bigger Muff just made the list too. Will have to try that one Dylan. Very neat.
ReplyDeleteHI Andy, this layout is verified?
ReplyDeleteHello. I have not built this one myself, but I did look over the schematic again tonight to check. It looks fine to me, but if you don’t want to take a chance on it, Dylan has a layout on FSB, just follow the link in the blog post.
DeleteI have done your layout and it works. Thanks!
DeleteGreat - hope the build went well
DeleteWorks as soons as powered on. Most delitace work was soldering the j201 smd on the through hole adapter. Good layout design.
DeleteI’m yet to try anything SMD - looks tricky. I usually make my layouts larger than most people as I like more space.
DeleteHi! thanks for the work! I will try to do this as my second build 😬, I have a newbie question, where is the output of the board?
ReplyDeleteHello - volume 2 is the output. Good luck.
DeleteThanks Andy! So if I'm following the tagboardeffects off wiring guide I just need to connect the vol 2 output to the switch slug number 7?
DeleteHi Felipe. Yes that’s correct.
Deletehey! is the first lug of the volume pot is connected to something? ive left it alone, since i cant see it on the layout, and my volume pot is not working
ReplyDeletethanks!
Connect lug 1 to ground
